Now that fall is here, it’s the start of a few of my favorite things: fairs, apple picking, Ugg boot wearing, and various flannel outfits. But this year, I’m aiming to change it up a little bit. I love wearing flannels with jeans and boots just as much as everyone else, but that has become the “safe” route to go. Here are some new ideas!
1. The “almost there” Outfit
I’ve seen this look more and more lately, and it just looks comfy. It’s perfect for the September-October weather where it’s not quite “summery” but not quite fall yet either. Take your favorite t-shirt and pair it with any flannel for this versatile look. Great for a day of shopping, site seeing, or apple picking with your man. Pair with a little cross-shoulder bag and you’re good to go!
2. The Classic Look
Although flannels can be paired with so many things, it’s always a good idea to stick with the classics. Take your favorite flannel and pair it with some skinny or bootcut jeans. Any wash of jeans will do, but I usually stick to medium and dark washes. Throw in a pair of tall leather boots and you’ve got a comfortable yet very put-together look.
This is something I would wear to almost any fall activity, but if you want to be a bit more casual, throw in some black leggings for a more laid back look.
3. In the office
I personally love this outfit, because it’s a perfect balance between dressy and casual. Take a long sleeve sweater of your choice (preferably a more neutral color like grey, tan, white, etc.) and pair it with any flannel or flannel-appearing button up.
This outfit works for almost anything, because you can add some jewelry to dress it up, or a cute scarf to dress it down. My favorite color combo is to do a red button up sweater with a navy and white flannel underneath. Whether you’re headed to the office or on your way to class, this outfit looks professional and comfortable.
4. When it gets a bit colder
Similar to the previous look, this adds a bit more coverage for the colder months (November, December, etc.). This is the perfect outfit for some holiday shopping, or just taking a walk to see the leaves. If the weather isn’t quite cold enough for a vest, try a leather jacket instead. I usually alternate between tall boots and Ugg boots, depending on the snow situation (ick).
What are some of your favorite fall outfits? Which of these do you tend to wear the most?
Uggs are perfect for the fall/winter.. My absolute must-have! lol

I pretty much live in flannels, but shockingly, I’ve never tried one under a sweater. I’ll have to give that a try when it gets cooler!

I love this post! Flannel shirts are a staple in my wardrobe year round but I do not possess the ability to make them office chic. I always look bummy/grungy/hipster in them (probably because mine are all men’s sizes and way too big for my petite frame).

I usually buy the larger sizes too just in case haha. I end up wearing most of them with leggings anyways!
