There are so many great things about fall. The trees changing, picking apples, Halloween, and so much more. But one of my favorite parts of this season is that everyone seems to amp it up in terms of their look. Red lipsticks and winged eyeliner are everywhere and I’m loving it.
The transition from summer to fall is pretty abrupt, so we go from bathing suits and beachy hair, to more sleek and classic looks. This year we have more events to go to than usual, so I’m changing up my routine a bit and trying to think outside the box. Here’s what’s in my beauty bag for fall:
1. ESSIE CARRY ON MATTE POLISH
I had never tried matte polish until about a week ago and I fell in love. I was so accustomed to the smooth, shiny finish that it took some getting used to. I kept touching it to make sure it wasn’t smudged. This is the first time in a while that I’ve done a color as dark as this. I usually stick to either white or a very light pink, so it was a much needed change. I used this polish for a weekend wedding that we recently attended, and added some little gold details. Perfect for fall!
2. NYX ILLUMINATOR
I first got this at the beginning of the summer, and I’m just now starting to master how to use it. I apply this as the last step (after blush, if used) just at the top of my cheekbones and a tiny bit at the end of my nose. It has a beautiful shimmer that helps to highlight your features, and it looks great for pictures!
3. TRESEMME KERATIN SMOOTH
I used to want as much volume as I could get, but since I’ve been curling my hair a lot lately, this frizz reducer really works wonders. I apply it to my hair while it’s still fairly damp, and work it in slowly. It doesn’t have any buildup, and smells amazing. It makes my curls come out so much smoother too!
4. STILA STAY ALL DAY LIQUID LINER
I’m really picky about liquid eyeliners, because I’ve tried my fair share of bad ones. The things I look for in a liner is that it has a felt tip that isn’t too long, and isn’t too fat. The felt tip ensures that it’ll go on smooth and evenly without any snags, and the length is important because it allows you to have more control. If the tip is too long or too flexible, it can be hard to avoid mistakes. I prefer the thin applicators just because I can choose to do a couple of coats and thicken it up, or I can stick with a thin line if needed. It gives you the choice rather than being stuck with a big cat eye.
5. REVLON JUST BITTEN LIP STAIN
I’ve been using these for years, and they’re hands down my favorite lip stain. I always stuck with the more pinky shades, but I’ve decided to change it up and move into the bright-deep reds. The only down side to this stain (which I’ve noticed with many of them) is that it leaves your lips feeling wicked dry. I usually have to apply chapstick regularly throughout the day to combat that.
6. M.A.C. PINK SMOKEY PALETTE
Ive always stuck with whites and golds, and veered away from anything “too dark”. But to pair with the colors of the season, I’m trying out some pink and brown smokey eye looks. I use the tan as a base, and I fill the inner crease with the dusty pinks or browns, depending on the day. I think eye shaddows are the most fun way to test out different looks, and change things up a bit.
What are you new beauty finds for the season? Have you been using any of these?
I am a huge fan of the Stila eyeliner. It is especially good for people like me who have small lids. That lip color looks really god on you.

Thank you Kathy! I just started using Stila, so I had no idea how great it was until just recently. It last so much longer than my other liners (probably because they’re cheapies, but still) and it’s much smoother to apply.

Thank you! I never used to either honestly. It was way too loud for me, but I finally found a shade that I love.

That illuminator is my absolute favorite!! I have the bronzer as well and use them both daily. And that heat protectant is my favorite as well. Sometimes I spray it in my damp hair just because it makes it soft and smooth haha

Oh hey there! I just realized your blog name changed?! Whaaaaat haha, I like it!
But anyways! I haven’t tried the bronzer yet but I did see it at Ulta and I was tempted. I just started using the heat protectant and it works wonders when I curl my hair!

Amanda, that is my favorite kind of color to wear on my nails. Especially during fall. What is the name of that color? I also love that lip stain. I’ll have to check it out. Thanks for sharing.
