The Vows We Make Long Before Marriage

Marriage is seen as one of the biggest commitments that two individuals can make, next to being parents. You stand before each other, vowing to love one another for better or for worse, in sickness and in health, til death do you part. But it’s so much more than those words. It’s patience, sacrifice, and tolerance. It’s unconditional love, and a promise to share your life with someone forever. When Your SO Has A Dangerous Job

The military is chalk-full of different job options, also known as MOS’s. The scale pretty much moves from somewhat dangerous, to very dangerous, but almost all of them involve some sort of risk. Even when our significant other is home, the worrying doesn’t stop. We worry when they’re in the field, and we worry when they’re just performing their regular duties. We start to realize, on a much deeper level, the gravity of life and death.  It’s hard to know how to deal with that level of stress, and how to help our loved one get through it as well. What Fourth of July Means to Us

Among military families, there are some special holidays that we hold near and dear to our hearts. The Fourth of July is certainly one of those days. It’s a day to celebrate the birth of this beautiful, growing nation. A time to look back on the strong men and women of our history who fought for our independence. It’s with bravery, strength, and unwavering determination, that they risked everything to make sure that the American people would have a future. Dear U.S. Army, Thank You..

Surprised? Don’t be. All around me I see mixed feelings and emotions towards different branches, and it’s really easy to say that we “hate” them sometimes. Either it’s the “hurry up and wait” or the distance, or all the little things that get under our skin. I certainly understand that level of frustration 100%. But lately I’ve been reminded of some of the wonderful things that the Army has done for Kyle and I. Here’s why I’m saying “Thank You”! Continue reading “Dear U.S. Army, Thank You..”

From Loving a Military Man to Loving a Veteran

Loving a military man is a challenge of its own, one which requires being in a constant state of transition.  But what happens when the routine stops, and the uniform is put away for good?  I know it’s something we all think about, because once you’ve been in this lifestyle for a few years, it’s hard to remember what it was like before the military came along. I vaguely remember a time when we didn’t have uniforms all over the house, and impossible work schedules. When the Army didn’t come first. It can be scary to imagine a life so far from what we’re used to. Continue reading “From Loving a Military Man to Loving a Veteran”

10 Misconceptions About Military Families

The more I get to know the military community around me, the more I see that there’s a significant divide between military and civilian families. Continue reading “10 Misconceptions About Military Families”

The Modern Military Relationship

Recently, I came across a post on one of my favorite blogs, A Semi-Delicate Balance. The post discusses the many ways in which the modern military spouse is changing the game, along with the introduction of the book: Modern Military Spouse: The Ultimate Military Life Guide for New Spouses and Significant Others by J.D Collins, Lauren Tamm, and Jo’ My Gosh! (You can check out her actual post here!)

It really got me thinking about how far we’ve come, and all the admirable military spouses and significant others I cross paths with everyday. It touched upon all the different ways that we have evolved and adapted over time, and what’s next for our lifestyle. Here are the ways I believe we are “changing the game”: Continue reading “The Modern Military Relationship”

To The Girl Who Reminded Me That I’m “Just” a Girlfriend

Throughout the military community, I’ve met so many wonderful people. I’ve met people who are far more supportive, encouraging, and understanding than anyone I had in my life previously. Continue reading “To The Girl Who Reminded Me That I’m “Just” a Girlfriend”

Keeping The Spark In Your Military Relationship

Sometimes distance makes the heart grow fonder; I can certainly relate to this. But sometimes, it makes the heart grow distant too. No matter how much you love each other, distance can be vicious in more ways than one. Continue reading “Keeping The Spark In Your Military Relationship “

Keeping Your Identity In Your Military Relationship

Lets face it, we all get a little bit caught up sometimes. If you’re in a military relationship like myself, than you know exactly what I mean. We get so busy trying to plan around training cycles and deployments, that our life starts to have very little balance. I meet so many military girlfriends, boyfriends, and spouses who are caught up in their loved ones goals, career, and duty, and they have lost who they are, and what they want.
